Loading Functions
Contaminant loading functions can be used to estimate gross and delivered mass load to water bodies (streams, lakes and estuaries).
World Water Watch utilizes watershed flow and concentration data to develop comprehensive, time-dependant loading functions. These functions are then utilized in knowledge-based systems to target high contaminant source areas within watersheds for treatment or application of conservation practices. WWW’s development of watershed loading functions facilitates analysis in both space and time. Coupled with sequential impact analysis (SIA) and advanced vision techniques (AVT), loading functions represent an important tool in watershed protection and remediation.
